I’m going to the San Juan Islands, Washington. Vacation rentals seem to be the best option?

I am taking my family to the San Juan Islands, Washington. I think we need a vacation rental home, because there are seven of us. The youngest is barely one, so we need some place that is family friendly. Looking at all the web sites doesn’t give great information about how families actually liked staying there. Has anyone stayed in a San Juan Island vacation rental? We are looking at staying by Roche Harbor or Friday Harbor.
